Jeune chercheuse d'excellence.

Maria C. Hernandez-Soriano est la lauréate de la première chaire d’excellence jeunes chercheurs HARMI “Understanding and steering microbial communities in agroecosystems to enhance the delivery of ecosystem services”.

HEADLINES

Walls between units are broken down

For the 2nd HARMI call for proposals (AAP2), 14 research projects were selected for funding : 4 starters (DEVINE, FungiTasty, IDYLYK, STREAM), 5 transversal (DERMABIOME, MICROBIOPLAST, MiTasteFly, RESCUE, THIOMINE), 4 international (AMAZ-LIFE, ABRICO, DARWIN, ENVI-FUNGI-R) and 1 industrial (PRO-SIP). These interdisciplinary and inter-units projects (10 BFC units and 3 platforms) cover the 4 HARMI work packages1. Special mention should be made of the work done by the external reviewers and the experts of the International Advisory Board (IAB) in evaluating and ranking the projects.

The 1st call for proposals (AAP1) had funded8 projectsin 2025 : 5 starters (ARMOR, BIORELAX, LALI-HDA, MICMET, PARADE), 1 transversal (IRONEX) et 2 international (FUNGIPSOME, M-CARBO-STORE) that is 8 units et 3 platforms.

1 WP1. Understanding the ecology and the spatio-temporal dynamics of microbial communities; WP2. Deciphering microbiota-host interactions; WP3. Managing microbial communities for enhanced sustainability and service delivery; WP4. Developing microbial biotechnology

Here we go again… the AAP3 HARMI call for proposals is now open ! see the “Calls for Proposals” section

Excellent young researcher.

Maria C. Hernandez-Soriano is the winner of the first HARMIExcellence Research Chair for young researchers “Understanding and steering microbial communities in agroecosystems to enhance the delivery of ecosystem services”. Currently in a postdoc at the John Innes Centre (Norwich, UK), she will be joining the Agroecology Unit (INRAE Dijon) in November 2026.

She came in April to visit the INRAE Dijon and to present her work.

The selection for the 2nd HARMI Chair of Excellence for Young Researchers in UFR Health Science / UMR Chronoenvironnement in Besançon (Antimicrobial Resistance) is in progress.

Two latitudes, two themes.

Ph.D. students Yoann Boisson (Chrono-environnement Unit) and Victor Hugonnot (Biogéosciences Unit) both received a €2,000 HARMI mobility grant to carry out research in a laboratory abroad. Yoann spent three months at the Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics in Madrid to study the effect of fungal consortia on poplar trees. Victor, winner of a HARMI half PhD funding2 in 2025, spent two months at the Geological Survey of Norway in Trondheim to study the role of microbial activity in the Earth’s oxygenation using sediment cores.
